As a result, this program can be completed in only 35 weeks. With ongoing enrollment and a flexible course schedule, you can start your education as soon as you're ready!

AOLCC's Administrative Assistant diploma program develops the administrative, clerical and organizational skills that are needed to play a key role in virtually any office environment.

You will learn to perform administrative and clerical duties that assist with the overall function of your department, including preparing reports, scheduling appointments and drafting correspondence. We also provide job search and resume writing workshops to help you get on track for a successful and long-lasting career as an Administrative Assistant.

Throughout the program, you will follow courses in:

  • Overall Computer Skills including Windows 10, Personal Computer and Internet Fundamentals
  • Business Correspondence Levels 1 & 2 and Grammar Essentials

Career Opportunities

As more employers acquire word processing equipment and programs, the labour market for skilled Administrative Assistants grows. Administrative Assistants may move into supervisory office positions as their careers progress.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of administrative and clerical functions.
  • Prepares reports and assists with overall functions of the department.
  • Requires above average word processing skills.

Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status.
  • Courses are open to any applicant who possesses a good command of the English language and is able to follow instruction.
  • Full-time students must attend the required hours per week as per the course schedule and may do so at times convenient to them.

    Basic level of proficiency in a Windows operating system

    Personal Computer Fundamentals for End Users, Office Procedures Levels 1 and 2, Internet Fundamentals, and basic level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook

    Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word

  • Spreadsheets

    Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Graphics/Presentation

    Basic level of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint

How long does it take to complete a diploma?
